  • Starting therapy can feel like a big step. It’s normal to feel nervous, uncertain, or hopeful, and many folks share this with us. Your first appointment is a chance to begin getting to know your therapist in a space designed to feel safe, respectful, and supportive.

  • An assessment is a structured process used to better understand how a person thinks, learns, behaves, and feels. It involves interviews, standardized tests, and questionnaires to identify strengths, challenges, and possible diagnoses. The goal is to provide clear answers and practical recommendations for school, work, or daily life.

  • We offer assessments for adults, including psychological, neuropsychological, psychoeducational, ADHD, autism (ASD), learning disability, cognitive concerns, gender-affirming surgical readiness, and diagnostic evaluations. Each assessment is tailored to the client’s unique concerns and goals. We offer more information about the types of questions you may wish to address below.

  • A psychodiagnostic assessment is a comprehensive assessment that examines your social, emotional, physical, and behavioural symptoms in order to identify and, when warranted, diagnose a mental health disorder. A psychological assessment can be helpful in identifying unhelpful symptoms and/or patterns that perpetuate and maintain dysfunction. Psychological assessments can also be used in a variety of contexts to help you obtain necessary resources and/or accommodations at school or work, as well as help you gain access to a variety of community programs.

  • A neuropsychological assessment is a comprehensive evaluation that examines how your brain is functioning across areas such as attention, memory, language, and executive functioning. It looks at how these cognitive abilities interact with your emotional, behavioural, and physical health to better understand changes or difficulties in day-to-day functioning. It is particularly helpful when you are concerned about changes in thinking or behaviour related to neurological conditions, such as brain injury, concussion, stroke, epilepsy, or neurodegenerative disorders. At Fusion, neuropsychological assessments also cover the content of a psychodiagnostic assessment.

  • A psychoeducational assessment is a comprehensive assessment that examines your cognitive, academic, and socio-emotional functioning to better understand how you learn and process information. When warranted, they can help identify attention-related difficulties, learning disabilities, or other factors that may be affecting performance in academic, occupational, or daily life settings. A psychoeducational assessment can be helpful in identifying learning strengths and weaknesses, along with other factors that may be jointly contributing to difficulties with reading, writing, mathematics, attention, memory, organization, or task completion. They are also commonly used to support postsecondary accommodations and assess giftedness.

  • Yes. ADHD assessments for adults are a regular part of the work we do at Fusion. We explore attention, focus, and executive functioning, while also considering the broader context of a person’s emotional wellbeing, learning history, trauma, personality, and daily life. Our goal is to understand what’s really driving the challenges you’re experiencing and provide clear, meaningful answers.

  • §  Absolutely. Assessing adult autism is an area of expertise at Fusion. We consider autism as part of all our assessments, ensuring we look at the full picture. Sometimes, traits or experiences that resemble autism may be related to emotional, cognitive, or health factors. We take the time to provide a comprehensive evaluation so you leave with clarity, not confusion.

  • A supervised clinician is a therapist who is actively practicing psychotherapy while receiving ongoing clinical supervision from a fully licensed and experienced senior clinician. Supervision involves regular review of clinical work, consultation on cases, and guidance to support high standards of care, ethical practice, and professional development.

Supervised clinicians have completed graduate-level training and provide therapy services within their scope of practice. Their work is supported through structured oversight, which helps ensure clients receive safe, thoughtful, and evidence-informed care while the clinician continues to advance their clinical skills and experience.
