Adult Neurodiversity

Assessment • Therapy • Support

If you’ve asked yourself any of these questions, you’re in the right place:

? You’ve had a long-standing sense of not quite fitting in, even if you can’t explain why

?              Others have dismissed your concerns because you appear to be doing “well enough”

?              You’ve tried therapy for anxiety or mood, but it didn’t fully explain your experience

?              You find yourself constantly adapting or performing in social/work settings just to get by

?              You often feel overwhelmed by everyday demands that others seem to handle easily

?              You’ve experienced burnout from trying to keep up or fit in

?              You relate to ADHD or autism content, but aren’t sure if it applies to you

?              You want a clearer explanation of how your brain works, not just coping strategies

At Fusion, we provide comprehensive neuroaffirming assessments for adults who would like a better understanding of their neurotype. You may be specifically interested in whether diagnoses of autism (ASD) and/or ADHD help explain your experience, and in adults, this determination can be more challenging than in childhood as you’ve had more time to adapt to the neurotypical world. Personality and mental health factors have complicated interactions with ADHD, autism, and AuDHD over one’s lifetime, and especially in women, symptoms may present differently. Our clinicians have specific expertise in disentangling and providing explanation for these symptoms.

As part of an assessment focused on neurodivergence, your assessment will include

  • A two-part comprehensive clinical interview evaluating the full breadth of mental and physical health factors that may contribute to your experience

  • Self-report measures for symptoms of autism, ADHD, mood, personality, trauma, emotion regulation, and anxiety

  • Review of collateral information such as previous assessment reports, report cards from childhood, and as warranted, brief interviews with close others who can comment on your developmental history and current experiences

  • Optional cognitive testing if you would like to better characterize your cognitive strengths and weaknesses in the context of possible neurodivergence

  • A feedback session to review your diagnoses, provide an opportunity to ask questions, and deliver tailored recommendations
