General Information About the Practicum: (e.g., client concerns, therapeutic modalities, virtual/in-person services, treatment approaches, assessment opportunities, etc.)

Fusion Psychological Services offers a range of gender-affirming, trauma-informed, and neurodivergent-informed psychological and neuropsychological services, including psychotherapy/ psychological intervention, psychological assessments, neuropsychological assessments, supervision, and consultation. We believe firmly in a wholistic approach to health, including mental health. We value wholistic integration and compassionate care.

Psychotherapy creates a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment for individuals to process and explore their thoughts, feelings, behaviors, patterns, and interpersonal relationships.

Neuropsychological assessments can help with understanding cognitive abilities and brain function, as well as integrate biological, psychological, and social factors in one’s overall functioning.

This practicum will provide specialized training in understanding, assessing, and treating a broad range of neurodivergent experiences, trauma, and other mental health and personality considerations. This requires existing comfort and competency in working with more general mental health concerns, as well as a positive, non-judgmental, and compassionate approach to clinical services.

Training/research opportunities:

Fusion Psychological Services provides specialized training in gender-affirming, trauma-informed, neurodivergent-informed, integrated, and wholistic approaches to psychotherapy and assessment with adult individuals.

Students will have one hour of individual supervision with a clinical psychologist with specialized training in therapy and/or assessment, including Dr. Moore, once per week. Supervisors at Fusion use a developmental model to supervision, including direct observation, to support the trainee towards independent practice in psychotherapy and assessment.

Both client sessions and supervision are available by video or in-person. Supervisors are available outside of supervision times on an as-needed basis.

At present, there are not specific research opportunities. However, there are some upcoming opportunities to participate in the production of publications about psychological theory.

We are following the application deadline and Match process set out by the GTA practicum coordinators.

Application procedure: (i.e., documents needed for application, number of references, etc.)

This is an advanced practicum. Applicants should have completed other required practica and have experience and comfort providing general psychotherapy techniques. Previous interest and/or experience in psychological and neuropsychological assessment is a benefit but not required.
