A caution about psychological assessments
Psychologist services are unlike lawyer services, where you essentially pay someone to argue your case favorably. In psychological assessments, you are paying for a clinical opinion, regardless of its nature. The outcome may be in support of the desired outcome (e.g., short-term disability support, surgery, etc.) at this time and it is possible that it may not be. Like any other kind of assessment, the report is not a negotiated document. I do not alter clinical impressions or selectively include/exclude diagnoses. I will amend factual errors, missing information or typos in a report. It is within your rights to ask me not to send the report to the intended referral source.
Check your insurance.
Psychological services are often covered by extended health care plans. Check with your provider to determine the annual amount covered.
You may also wish to check other stipulations indicated by your provider, such as total cost covered per calendar day and/or session.
If a provider does not cover psychological assessment services, I can write an advocacy letter that you can submit prior to receiving services.
